NFL Tuesday Takeaways & Picks update
In Week 12 we had several prime time viewing games. Unfortunately, the games in prime time were not very good. The Thanksgiving slate started with Lions-Bears, which was mostly a snoozer until the Bears pulled it out at the last second, with a game-winning FG.. Raiders-Cowboys was full of penalties and went to OT and then the Raiders pulled it out at the last second with game-winning FG. Saints-Bills was just boring as the Bills blew the Saints out.
The SNF game between the Ravens-Browns was turnover filled and pretty bad football. Each team took turns turning the ball over on consecutive possessions in the second quarter. Lamar threw 4 interceptions and Baker didn’t look much better, as the Ravens eked it out 16-10. MNF was just as bad, the Seahawks are borderline unwatchable and WFT doesn’t have much offense. WFT held on to win 17-15. Hopefully, week 13 gives us more entertaining games.
Elsewhere in the league, the Rams went to Green Bay and got dominated in all aspects of the game. Rodgers and Adams sliced up the Rams defense without much resistance. The Packers defense limited McVay and Stafford for most of the game, the garbage time scores at the end made the score and game look closer than it actually was.
The Patriots look to be rolling and crushed a visiting Titans team, 36-13. Granted the Titans were missing about 15 players, but the Patriots just whooped them from kickoff to the end of the game. Unfortunately, the Patriots are able to succeed in team building, where the rest of the league fails. Draft a rookie QB, it works out, spend a boatload in free agency, it works out. Definitely a team to keep your eye on as the playoffs approach.
The Bengals look to be ahead of schedule after destroying the Steelers, 41-10. The Steelers didn’t look to be competitive for most of the game. Everything is clicking for the Bengals, as Joe Mixon has scored a TD in 4 straight games, Joe Burrow looks more and more comfortable in the pocket and the Bengals have swept the Steelers for the first time in over a decade. If it wasn’t for the inexperience of Zac Taylor, I would also have the Bengals as another team to watch out for come playoff time.
