NFL Tuesday Takeaways & Picks update

The Packers were able to survive their trip to Arizona and knock off the last undefeated team in the league. The game came down to the final play, apparently there was a miscommunication between Kyler Murray and A.J. Green. Green didn’t know the play was being called for him and didn’t react as Murray lofted a fade pass that was intercepted in the end zone by Packers corner Rasul Douglas. Packers win 27-21.

On a Halloween Sunday, we saw 3 different backup QB’s come in and win games. We had Mike White and the Jets knock off the streaking Bengals, Trevor Simian came in for the Saints, when Jameis got injured early and beat the Bucs. We also saw Cooper Rush get the start for the Cowboys and go into Minnesota and beat the Vikings.

The Titans were able to outlast the Colts and seize control of the AFC South after yet another OT victory. The turnovers by Carson Wentz were just too much to overcome for the Colts, the win came at a great cost for the Titans as Derrick Henry went out. Henry was injured and will be out for the next 6-10 weeks. Good thing they have a firm 2.5 games lead on the Colts.

The Patriots and Mac Jones seem to be rounding into form as they travelled to Los Angeles and defeated the Chargers. The Chargers still can’t stop the run and perhaps were victims of their own hype as they started out 4-1 and now have dropped back to back games. Herbert looked quite confused against Belichick, throwing a pick-6 to seal the victory for the Patriots.

The Chiefs are 4-4 and honestly don’t look as good as their .500 record. They don’t seem too comfortable running the ball as teams are daring them too. Defense have been sitting with 2 deep safety’s refusing to let them throw the ball deep and Mahomes is struggling taking checkdowns and dump offs. It’s difficult to comprehend, because we’ve seen Mahomes make every other throw imaginable and making the shorter, touch throws are usually thought of as easier completions. Maybe the return of Clyde Edwards-Helaire will help revitalize that running game.

The Rams are rolling and trading for Von Miller will fortify their defense, as they make their Super Bowl push. They are employing an interesting strategy of trading draft picks for proven players and figuring out how to make the salaries fit under the cap. If they have success with this strategy, it will be interesting to see if other teams copy this strategy.
