October 29 CFB Best Bets
#2 Ohio State at #13 Penn State
The Buckeyes really should be the #1 team in the nation when you look at all of their offensive stats. They’re insanely impressive, however if you take a closer look, you see that the Buckeyes schedule has been easy to say the least. They were tested in the opener against Notre Dame, but other than that close game they won 21-10, it’s been blowout after blowout.
On the other hand the Nittany Lions have already let me down by getting blown out against Michigan a few weeks back. Franklin is also 1-7 against Ohio State, which blew my mind. All of these things should tell me to bet against Penn State, but I’m going the other way. This feels like one of those weird underdog weekends. Tie in the Halloween aspect into the weekend, I’m leaning toward the home teams this weekend.

#9 Oklahoma State at #22 Kansas State
Oklahoma State and Mike Gundy have a ridiculous 15-2 record as underdogs, but in a game where the spread is 1 or 1.5, it’s essentially a pick’em. Oklahoma State’s schedule has been a gauntlet of ranked teams: Baylor, TCU, Texas and now Kansas State on the road. While Spencer Sanders and the Cowboys crushed it last week and came back to beat Texas, this feels like a schedule loss.
Kansas State at home trying to bounce back after their loss to TCU, this feels like an ideal opportunity for them to take advantage of the Cowboys brutal schedule. Sanders had some questions regarding his health already, this game isn’t going to get any easier for him as the Wildcats have one of the better defenses in the Big 12.
Kansas State -1.5 (-110) 2 Units
#19 Kentucky at #3 Tennessee
Hendon Hooker and Tennessee have everything going right for them after upsetting Bama a few weeks ago. Coach Heupel has that squad ready to play every week and the development of Hooker has been equally as impressive as he is the Heisman favorite now. Kentucky is a difficult team as they also have an impressive NFL quality QB in Will Levis.
I would like to bet Tennessee but I feel like this is a trap game as they’re going to get caught looking ahead to next weekend’s matchup with powerhouse Georgia. Kentucky should not get overlooked, but they may because of how the schedule is arranged.
Kentucky just upset Miss State, has one of the best defenses in the country (top-15) so they should be able to slow down that Tennessee offense. I still think Tennessee wins but give me Kentucky to cover and I’ll take a bonus bet on the under.
